BEIJING 2022 PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES March 4 – 13

INTERNATIONAL: The winter Olympics are all over for another year, let’s get ready for the winter Paralympics to begin. March 4-13.

The Chinese capital city of Beijing will welcome a record 650 plus Para athletes from 49 National Paralympic Committees for the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games to become the world's first city to stage both Summer and Winter Games.

Beijing 2022 will run 4-13 March and see Para athletes competing in 78 events across six Para sports – 39 for men, 35 for women, and four mixed events.

The Winter Paralympics will be held over five venues in the three competition zones of central Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou. Two of these venues - the National Indoor Stadium (Para Ice Hockey) and the National Aquatic Centre (Wheelchair Curling) - are legacy venues from the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics.

Three countries will make their debut in Beijing in 2022 - Israel, Azerbaijan, and Puerto Rico.

Their slogan is, “Together for a Shared Future”

The motto represents the power of the Games to overcome global challenges as a community, with a shared future for humankind. The words reflect the necessity for the world to work together towards a better tomorrow, especially given the difficulties faced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Together for a Shared Future” demonstrates unity and a collective effort, embodying the core values and vision of the Olympic Movement, and the goal of pursuing world unity, peace, and progress. The motto considered the key values of the Paralympic Games as well, in particular the role they play in contributing to a more inclusive society.

The slogan was selected after an extensive process from May to September 2020, during which Beijing 2022 collected 79 sets of slogans from renowned Chinese universities. Of these, 11 slogans were shortlisted by experts from various fields, which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) provided opinions on.
